When you think of usher what comes to mind? Most people would probably say "taking up the offering". This is an important service the ushers provide however; usher ministry can be a far-reaching and beneficial element of our church ministry.

Ushers can provide a wide range of duties during our worship services, the following is only a partial list:

• Open the church doors for every person and greet them with a friendly smaile and welcome
• Help seat the congregation, especially visitors
• Park vehicles, especially during inclement weather
• Provide umbrella coverage during inclement weather
• Assist the handicap
• A source of information: special activites, facilities, class rooms, etc.
• Distribute materials during the service: forms, message outlines, pamphlets, etc.
• Collect the offering
• Ensure the pew racks are properly stocked
• Assist in the security of the facilities
• Assist the Pastor
